The difference between aid, treaty, and alliance is. If you are someones ally you help then and support them like in WWI when Russia got pulled into the war and was attacked France came in to support them.
Where as if you are aiding someone you are giving them supplies to help them and not really getting involved if you don't have to, like when the U.S. was aiding France and England by giving them guns and ammo. A treaty is an agreement between two county's that can be for a number of reasons in the case of WWI their was a peace treaty that stopped the war.
The United States is not part of the diagram because the U.S. didn't really get involved in the war until half way through the war. They were involved in the war was because their ship the Lusitania was destroyed by Germany while they where shipping weapons to France and England. They never really wanted to actually fight.
I think the United States could be part of the diagram as an ally to the French and English but it should be off to the side because it was not a huge part of starting the war. But they did help the French and English by supplying then with ammo and weapons.
