I believe that this picture illustrates militarism because (as expected) the military forces were supposed to be strong and protective. That policy was very important and the forces were given a very high profile by the government. In this image, it shows soldiers with lots of demands, which in my eyes and with my knowledge, represents militarism.
What is the difference between aid, a treaty, and an alliance?
An aid is when you help or assist someone/thing. A treaty is a formally concluded agreement between countries. An alliance is when a a union or association formed for mutual benefit, especially between countries or organizations. Why isn't the United States a part of the diagram above? The U.S. hadn't joined the war yet. Does the United States become a part of the diagram? If so, when and why? A British passenger liner sunk the Lusitania by a German submarine, killing 128 Americans and further heightening tensions. The US joined the war in 1917. Definition of (subculture) bodybuilding: The practice of strengthening and enlarging the muscles of the body through exercise; people who believe it's NECESSARY to body build 24/7. Why choose this subculture? It's motivating. These types of people can help you become a healthier, happier person. You can also look up to somebody like that. Historical Example: Back in the 70's Lou Ferrigno was a famous actor who played as Hulk. Directors needed someone who was bulky and built, so Lou fit that requirement perfectly. Not only did Lou Ferrigno act, but he was a bodybuilder as well. Modern Day Example: Couple Michelle and John Bishop (popular in 2000's) inspire people to exercise every single day. Personally, Michelle Bishop is inspiring to me. She has "MSHELL BOOT CAMPS," and she's also a certified personal trainer and NPC. (National Women's Physique Competitor.) The two compete in many body building competitions. Famous Bodybuilders: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Michelle Bishop, John Bishop, Troy Alves, Art Atwood, Albert Beckles. What MORE did you want to know about Ellis and/or Angel Island? What did you find out?
It was shocking when I found out how immigrants were treated while passing through Ellis island and Angel Island. They were criticized and judged on how they looked. In Social Studies, we watched a video on how immigrants were disrespected while travelling through Ellis Island. If someone had a disease or infection, they weren't allowed to pass through. Most families have had at least one ancestor that has traveled through Ellis Island. I'd like to know more about specific questions on the tests that immigrants were required to take to travel through Angel or Ellis Island, and I'm also curious on what requirements it took to be a worker or inspector that allowed people to pass through. Definition: Active participation within societies, schools, neighborhoods, classrooms, and/or organizations. Key Words: voting, politics, government, society, choices, expressing, views on issues, action, ideals, citizenship, liberty, participation In order to give back to my community I participate in the National Junior Honor Society, also known as NJHS. We perform community service for a specified number of hours. I have been doing this program for the past two years. A requirement for NJHS students is to be a smart, responsible leader whom all students can look up to. Some of the community service that I have I participated in was collecting shoes for Jolly Old Souls, I have worked at Feed My Starving Children, and also cleaned around the pond for the Park District. While participating for this club, I have realized how fortunate I am. So many people in this world are struggling, it's our job to do our part and help those who need it. When I finish my service work I feel like a better person. Q: Was I named after someone?
A: My mom was a fan of The Beatles, so she named me after their album, "Abbey Road." My father, on the other hand, was not a huge Beatles fan. He didn't really want me to be named after the band, so he switched my middle name from Road to Rose. My full name is Abigail Rose Wissler. Q: Where do I get my love for sports? A: My parents were both athletes when they were younger. My mom played softball and cheered, my dad played baseball and all types of intramurals. I'm not sure where I got my love for soccer and volleyball, neither of my parents/grandparents participated in those two sports. Q: Grandma could have moved anywhere, why did she choose here? A: She had married someone who lived in Pennsylvania. So she moved from Germany to Pennsylvania to be with him. Then they started their own family. Q: How do your looks affect who you are? A: If you look like you speak a different language (for example; Spanish) people may treat you like you're not as smart or understanding of English. People may tease you or get irritated if you don't understand what their saying. Geography: Earth's physical features and human features including locations of places and religions, and political boundaries.
Key Words: location, religion, migration, culture, travel, settlement, diffusion, region I have lived in Woodridge, Illinois my whole life. I am Polish and German. I don't speak either language fluently, but I'm learning some German from the grandmother and father. I know more about my father's side, which is my German side. My grandmother is 100% German and has the beautiful name Krimhilda Dietz. (It doesn't get more German than that!) My grandma was born in Nazi Germany, in a town of Giessen during WWII. She has a Swastika on her birth certificate. My grandma moved to the U.S. because she married a GI. Out of all 3 of her children, she only had one in Germany, (my uncle Jorg). Every once in a while when my family goes over to Nan's (my grandmother's) we eat German food. We munch on bratwurst, sauerkraut, lox, roast pork, dumplings, German chocolates (which are very delicious), and many more dishes. Continuing these traditions has taught me how important my culture is and how to always respect it. IIn Social Studies, we are given the opportunity to learn about the history of our world and our present day.
