2) The United States are not apart of the diagram because they joined the war later. 3) The United States becomes apart of the diagram on April 6th 1917, because the British passenger liner Lusitaina was sunk by a German submarine killing 128 Americans. What Surprised MeWhen working on the Immigration Activity I was surprised to find out the second largest amount of immigration came from America during 1950-1959 because I thought that the immigrants would come from farther away. Also when seeing the videos about the conditions were when the immigrants traveled through Ellis Island, I was shocked when even when they were treated so harshly a lot of people still came through Ellis Island. I would still like to learn more about why men couldn't bring their wives through Angel Island.
Question:
How could our life be different financially? Answer: My Nana says that when she was younger, her father was asked to be a partner with the first owner of McDonald's in Des Plaines where they lived. If he would've taken the offer our family would probably been different because we could have had a lot more money and they might not have lived in IL, and my Nana and grandpa may have never met, so I wouldn't have been born. Question: Did anyone in my family go to college? Answer: Yes, my dad has a college degree. Question: What holidays does my family celebrate? Answer: All the traditional American holidays. Question: What language do we speak? Answer: We speak English, however my great grandmother spoke Polish. I lived with my mom and older brother in Mt. Prospect until I was about two, then my mom and dad decided it would be better if I lived with my dad. My dad and I lived with my Nana in Des Plaines for a couple years, when I was about six my dad and I moved into an apartment across the street from where my mom lived in Mt. Prospect. When my dad and I moved there I met my forever friend Abby. Halfway through first grade I moved to Woodridge because my dad got married. Moving to Woodridge allowed me to meet Becca, who lived three minutes away when walking. I have become very close with Becca and her family, because I moved here. I am excited to be sharing my thoughts and ideas with all of you.
When interviewing my family I will ask how moving to America and why we moved here affected their life today. What jobs did my family have? |
