What does personal identity mean to me? Many things in your life can mold and form your own personal identity. Experiences both positive and negative can have a huge impact on how you view the world. Having parents who are in a positive loving relationship can teach you how to be in one later in life. They can teach you by example how to trust and respect other people. However if you've grown up in a home with fighting and mistrust you may not trust as an adult. If in your childhood you're taught to think outside the box, ask questions, and explore you may not be afraid to try new things and have a more open minded attitude in your life. But on the other hand if you grow up in a bigoted close minded world you are far more likely to be that way as an adult. Your own personal identity can change and grow in life as you yourself grow and change. |
